BBC Monthly Meeting December

Topics:

• State Team Time Trial Championships
  • We won the bid to hold the 2025 NYS Team Time Trial Championships, after NYSBRA separated it from the individual TT event to honor our bid.  We will be holding it on our standard 20.5-mile loop around Grand Island and discussed several schematics we will need for further NYSBRA approval:
    • Team Size: minimum 3, maximum 4 per team (big teams can split up), final time taken on 3rd rider
    • Categories: likely will be Cat 1/2/3 Men and Women, Cat 4/5 Men and Women, Master’s 45+ Men and Women
    • Eligibility: at least 3 riders from your team must be NYS residents
    • Bikes: we are looking at having the state championship event be road bikes for the most apple-to-apples competition
    • Other categories: we will offer individual TT events that are not part of the state championship
    • Date: looking at early August, 10th or 17th, more to come
• 2025 USAC Schedule
  • To accommodate the State TTT race, we will change our USAC offerings for 2025:
    • Freedom Run will move to April 27th
    • Resurgence Criterium stays at May 18th
    • Hamburg moves one week later to June 22nd and will be the Club Championship road race
    • State TTT Championships in August
    • (Our friends at EARC will hold the Two Days of Buffalo on August 2-3)
• BBC Base Building Challenge:
  • we finalized details for the Base Building Challenge, revamping it to be more inclusive of a wider range of hours logged and to eliminate the temptation to go for the max challenge.  Details are posted on the website.
• UB Crit
  • Eric Curtis approached UB North Campus about using the old UB Crit Course from the 1990s and 2000s for a weeknight club circuit race like we do the Fireballs.  More to come if this is a possibility.
