Topics:
- Discussed a bid for the State TT Championships. We agree that it would be great to move forward with it. The easiest way to get around the hurdles of a new course would be to do our normal 20km out and back on West River, staging likely at GP50 or Beaver Island. Possible dates would be July 6th or July 13th. After the meeting, James received supportive feedback from the Buffalo Triathlon Club president, who will bring the matter to her members so our triathletes will know about the event, compete, and help out. James also put in an email to the State Parks department to see what it would take to close down the West River bike path from regular pedestrian and rider traffic to use that for the race. Preliminary feedback from the parks department suggests that it would be possible, will continue discussions. Our bid to NYSBRA is due on November 30th as the first submission deadline.
- Other calendar items: If we are going to put on a sanctioned TT race, we would not otherwise be increasing our USAC offerings up from our standard 4, so we would rearrange our calendar. In this scenario, the Marilla Spring Classic would not be run in 2025. Freedom Run could be moved to April 27th, Resurgence Crit stays at May 18th, Hamburg is already reserved for June 22nd, and the TT would go in early July. Hamburg could also become this year’s club championship road race because Freedom Run in April would be too early in the season to host the club championship.
- Calendar coordination: James is in discussions with GVCC as their GVCC Classic Road Race is on the calendar for June 21st. If they are locked into that date, we are going to run the GVCC Classic and the Hamburg Road Race as a WNY Road Race Omnium Weekend to bolster participation at both races.
- Race Categories: we will separate out a Novice category at our USAC races for men and women this coming year to be scored separately from the Cat 4. Both of these could benefit proper newbies to be scored separately.
