Treasury Report
- James T presented end-of-year treasury report. The BBC’s ambitious racing schedule for the club’s 50th anniversary was a high point for the Upstate New York area, but unfortunately high fixed costs and dwindling attendance at the President’s Cup racing series through the mid to late summer hurt the club’s finances this year. The club started the year with $18,000 in the bank, and lost approximately $6000 overall, ending the year at approximately $12,000. The events that took the biggest financial hits were the Tour of Buffalo and Hamburg Weekend, while the 50th Anniversary Crit and East Arcade Weekend broke even. The club will return to putting on our usual 3-4 sanctioned road races in 2023.
Officers
- Steve Mongielo announced by email one week ago that he would be stepping down as club president after 5 great years of leading the club. All new officer candidates ran unopposed, so your 2023 club officers will be:
- President- James Thompson
- Vice President- Tim Williams
- Secretary- Gregory Cherr
- Treasurer- Richard Scaduto
- Race Director- Tom Robinson
- Education Director- Frank Grillo
Next Steps in the Club for 2023:
- Ride Leader Committee
- The club will continue its efforts from this year with new rider development. To do this, we are going to add to Frank Grillo’s education team by asking for at least 7 experienced club members to join a Ride Leader Committee. This committee will help lead 1-2 BBC Sunday group rides per month throughout the 2023 season, as well as some skills clinics. These will help newer and experienced riders alike get to know people in a more relaxed group ride environment and help people along the way to cultivate their interest and knowledge in road racing. Teams can also elect to lead some BBC group rides during the year
- BBC Board of Directors
- The BBC is looking to elect members to serve on the Board of Directors, a group that, according to club bylaws, “will be elected by membership and serve a five-year term… to provide continuing influence for the permanence of the club organization.” Board Members will help influence the club’s direction and work with the officers on the club’s strategic initiatives. Board Members also fill in for officers when needed. We are looking for at least 3 people to serve on the Board. If you are interested, please contact James Thompson at [email protected] to submit your bid for officer review. Membership will elect new board members at the November club meeting.
- November Club Meeting
- The BBC will host monthly club membership meetings on the second Monday of each month from November – April at 7pm on Zoom. Our next monthly meeting will be on Monday November 14th at 7pm. Zoom link will be sent out. If you would like to participate in deciding the direction of the club and give your input on everything from riding to racing to marketing, please attend!
