Dear Members,
We understand this year has been challenging for everyone. With that said, it’s clear there are people both in favor and opposed to racing today. As a recreational cycling club, we used information provided by the State of New York and USA Cycling to determine that our events could resume safely and would be considered a low risk for spreading COVID-19.
We would like you to know that if at this time, you do not feel comfortable participating in group activities, we respect your choice and when you feel ready to resume, we’ll be here for you. I’d like to thank everyone for supporting the club over the years. We hope to continue to provide a competitive recreational outlet for the Western New York region cyclists.
Respectfully,
Steven Mongielo
President, Buffalo Bicycling Club, Inc.
Return to Racing
The BBC will resume Sunday training races starting this weekend at Hunter’s Creek! We have added six Sunday training races to our 2020 event calendars. The full club event calendar can be found on our webpage here. This year we won’t be scoring the club races toward the series standing because we don’t want social pressures to influence your personal health decisions. These events will be low frills and a good way to push yourself against peers.
To keep fellow riders and the community safe, prior to attending ANY cycling event, please follow these USAC new guidelines here.
USAC Races in Buffalo!
– 2 Days of Buffalo (8/1-8/2)
– Freedom Run Winery Road Race (8/9 Tentitive, waiting town approval)
– East Arcade Road Race (8/29)
Membership Rollover
With most of the 2020 events being canceled, we want to make sure that everyone is getting the most out of their memberships. Anyone who purchased a 2020 membership will receive an automatic membership rollover for 2021. We’re working hard to fill the calendar with club racing so you get the most value for your membership. If you’re not a member yet, and want to participate in the rest of the season’s club events register here and you’ll be covered for the rest of 2020 and all of 2021. |

Strava Solo Challenge Recap
Congrats to everyone who participated in the Spring Solo Series. We were all itching to compete, but needed to find a way to do it solo, and safely. We also wanted to open up the challenge to everyone in the WNY community – BBC member or not. The Spring Solo Series brought us together virtually. Collectively 58 participants rode over 4,944 miles in over 250+ rides. Full results can be found here.
Congrats to the overall champions:
Jenny Keenan – Women’s Open
James Thompson – Men’s Open
Brian Hopkins – Men’s 50+
